Micronic sponsors LUMC PhD candidate Nienke van Rein

Micronic is proud to sponsor PhD candidate Nienke van Rein in her preparation for her thesis defence, which is scheduled on September 6th at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC, the Netherlands). The title of her PhD thesis is 'Risk and prevention of bleeding during anticoagulant treatment'.

For her PhD thesis, Mrs van Rein conducted several randomized, cohort and case-control studies, aimed on finding interventions to prevent bleeding caused by blood thinners during treatment. Mrs van Rein has co-written fifteen articles and manuscripts about these studies, which are partially published in renowned medical journals like the 'American Journal of Clinical Nutrition', 'American Journal of Epidemiology' and 'Journal of Thrombosis and Heamostasis'.

During her research, Mrs van Rein used Micronic 1.10ml screw cap tubes in rack. For a large prospective study she stored plasma and DNA samples from around 13.500 patients in 250.000 tubes. She commented, “I chose Micronic because of the space saving 96-well rack format; more sample material could fit in the freezer compared to products from other companies. The screw cap also stays securely in place during long-term storage in -80°C."
